I’m sure you know SOLIDWORKS Inspection can open SOLIDWORKS Drawing files as well as PDFs and TIFFs, but did you know that SOLIDWORKS Inspection 2018 can work with other CAD drawing files such as:
- AutoCAD DWG files
- PTC Drawing files
- CATIA V5 CATDrawing files
Smart Extract is a new feature inside SOLIDWORKS Inspection 2018, that is used to pull one or more characteristics based on the predefined settings in the file!

There is also 3D file support with Inspection 2018 which allows us to open and import 3D files from other 3D CAD systems including:
- 3D XML files
- PTC and Creo Parametric files
- CATIA V5 CATPart and CATProduct files
