Our Technical teams here at TriMech Solutions will often request the SOLIDWORKS installation log files from clients who are experiencing issues with their SOLIDWORKS Installation. These logs will assist us in determining the corrective actions required for an installation to proceed.
Sample Installation Log File
Prior releases made it a tad challenging to find the log files as they would be located deep within a user’s folder structure.
(Typically C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\SOLIDWORKS\Installation Logs)
Starting with the 2016 release of SOLIDWORKS, user were provided with an easier method to gather the log files together!
- Right-Click the gray title bar at the top of the SOLIDWORKS Installation Manager dialog as shown in the figure below.
- Choose the “Gather Installation Logs…” option and save the resulting zip file in a known location for a later upload.
